Who would think faux mounted animal heads would ever be a hot trend? Hard to believe, but its true. I have been seeing them in wood, papier-mch, metal, and everything but animal. That is the good news, Humane Society. But Decor Lovers, what do you think? Bizarre or Cheeky Chic?

Wow . . . is all I have to say. These brass lily of the valley sconces get my decorating juices flowing. One on each side of the fireplace would frame a living room perfectly. Or just one at the end of the hall, would be a stunning focal point. Yes, it is a light, but it has been upped to art.

Brass Lily of the Valley lighted wall sconce (#8.8077) 15.5″L x 57.5″; about $1000 depending on retailer; find one at globalviews.com

I like everything about this mirror. It is made in the United States, by a family-run company with reclaimed and recycled wood. Those qualities, in addition to the piece being pretty, aren’t easy to come by for $250. Weathered wood with feminine gold leafing–I love that contrast. With a looking glass like this my rugged and my girly sides can finally live in harmony.

Today’s green star goes to Brave Space. At this Brooklyn furniture company, nothing goes to waste. Using excess material from their walnut veneer case goods, they have designed the Mountain Range Coat Rack. They cut the scraps into peaks and expose the light FSC certified maple for snow caps. Its like wall art that does something (maybe it is time to replace that lazy painting).
