I’m just a sucker for Chinese Chippendale. And these handcrafted pedestals are so chic with their geometric fretwork highlighted against the silver-leafed glass. They’re stand-alone beautiful but give importance and presence to anything you place on them.

A table that adjusts from dining height to bar height . . . why didn’t someone think of this sooner? In small New York City apartments, anything that can do double duty is greatly appreciated but who couldn’t use a feature like this? Crank it up for parties and bring it down for everyday use. The design plays up its function and makes the central screw the decorative feature. It helps to like a more masculine industrial look of oak and steel (I do) but the idea is what sells me.

I can be such a klutz at the dinner table; I try never to wear white when having a meal. Perhaps eating with a lucky Koi fish could help me out? The Tozai Koi round table is bound to bring you good fortune, or at least great style. The golden carp is painted on a white porcelain top. The natural luster and color of the table is a pure milky white that paint could never capture. Though porcelain may make fellow klutzies a little nervous, it is a dazzling medium for a table. It makes you feel like you are eating on fine china even if you are eating off a napkin.

Adler-TableI was browsing Jonathan Adler’s website the other day and decided to read his manifesto and man, hes got chutzpah. You have to admire a designer who promises that his lamps will make you look thinner and encourages collecting tchotchkes for life enhancement. I cant say I agree with all his declarations, but I couldn’t agree more with his overarching principle your home should make you happy. This new Lantern Side Table is a subdued piece for Adler (punchy patterns and bright colors is his usual signature) but this design is just enough to make you smile. The high gloss, the full curves, the pure white—it makes you want to run your hands over it. And once you start groping the furniture, you might just have to buy it.
