About two years ago the Indian-look hit like a monsoon and then dried up for everyone–except John Robshaw. He has reinvented the Indian paisley, the color scheme, and the block print. The palette is no longer the Indian look; it is the John Robshaw look. His fall collection is absolutely exquisite, but if I could pick one thing to swoon over, it would be the Birds of India pillows. No matter what happens to the bird trend, these will be timeless. The birds are hand painted on linen and, as the catalog says, “So life-like, you might want to feed them.”

Tatami throw by Designers Guild

To appease my fickle decorating sense, I have a solid navy sofa. Since my 490-square-foot New York apartment doesn’t give me much room for impulse buys, my plain sofa is my outlet for all my colorful finds. Reupholstering on a regular basis is out of the question so I swap out my pillows and throws whenever I need a fresh fix. The Tatami throw from Designers Guild is my latest splurge. Made of lambs wool and cotton, its exactly the cuddle buddy Ive been looking for. And luckily for me, it’s reversible—so when my living room needs a change, Ill just give it a flip.
For pattern and color indulgences, Designers Guild is like my candy store. In addition to the Tatami blanket, it has introduced Tasket Chartreuse and Ikebana Turquoise; when my credit card clears, Ill be back.

Florence duvet from Haute Home

Im not married yet, but I can only imagine the battle of the sexes that must ensue when couples decorate their first bedroom. She wants Shabby Chic floral and he wants Boy Scout khaki. My future Mr. Wonderful will obviously know I wear the design pants in the family, but I know better than to subject him to pink toile. The compromise? Haute Home’s new bedspreads. The Tracey pattern in green bamboo is gender-neutral but style-strong. And if you catch him in moment of weakness, run the Florence duvet by him, it is a bit more feminine but so gorgeous he’ll learn to love it.

By the looks of Thomas Pauls designs, youd think the man never had a bad day in his life. They are always bright and cheery, and his new pillow collection is no exception. The punchy patterns are printed on 100% linen and finished with simple piping. Fresh and fun, they are hard to get sick ofespecially when the colors are reversed on the back of the pillow.
