I am mesmerized by these new Sieger vases though I cant decide what I think about them. Sieger commissioned German photographer Joerg Grosse Geldermann to capture images that represent cultures and individuals from around the globe for their new porcelain vase line, Love Elixir. The idea was inspired by a phrase in Persian poetry, [the cup is] the mirror of the world. (I’m not totally sure what that means, but we can see where they’re going.) The inside is a reflective gold and the intense stare from the exteriors image feels as if it is looking right through you. Each face is exquisite, but when beauty gets this close-up and personal, do you want it in your living room? I’m curious to know what you think.

Vivaterra-vases.jpg

I was going through my pretty file the other day and found page 53 from last summer’s VivaTerra catalog. The tattered sheet displayed their typically eco-chic products, but I doodled three stars (doodle star= totally love) by these Recycled Glass Balloon Vases. They are beautiful. Their lopsided form has the look of a massive soap bubble on the verge of popping. They have such character–and a green one at that. Add a tall stem flower and you’ll have the perfect hall display. I guess I was saving them for a rainy blog day, but weather or not, today they will be posted!

When Kate Spade and Vera Wang move in a similar design directiontake note. For next year, both designers seem to agree on Organic Glitz and the “Golden Grid”. Gold usually formalizes a table, but when used to gild these modern dinnerware patterns, it adds a level of fun to any setting. Case in point: Kate Spade’s Primrose pattern (above left) and Vera Wang’s Gilded Leaf style (above right) with their golden bramble-like pattern.

A free-hand design loosens up the formality of gold in a Kate Spade frame (above left) and Vera Wang dinnerware pattern (above right).

At first glace this may look like just another pretty printed tray, but look a little closer. The pattern is actually laminated fabric. The fibers in each stitch are visible through the glossy layer, capturing a texture that is lost in similarly patterned trays.

Surya and Nature Trays range by Simrin from $30-$100; at VelocityArtandDesign.com
